Okay so I got this Network Card today because the Ethernet port I already had was occupied with my LAN, and now I needed another 'cause drivers won't work for my ADSL (USB). After inserting the card, in Device Manager, it shows: "Realtek RTL8139/810x Family quick Ethernet NIC" installed, however, after inserting the Ethernet cable in the port, no lights blink..My ethernet cables are fine (Both of LAN and the Internet) because I've tested them in the port which was preinstalled. What am I doing wrong? Do I need the drivers? I used Driver Genius and updated it to the latest available for my windows, even now, the light isnt blinking in the provided lights. Is something wrong with the card? But if so, it shouldn't even be recognized by Device Manager. Thanks. Edit: I said I downloaded the 64 bit Windows 7 Drivers (by Driver Genius) and still it dosent work, just 'What is the PROBLEM'? Edit 2: I did specify the reason for using two of them. Actually, its just one network card and one Ethernet port was already installed. The one (Ethernet Port) already installed is used by a simple LAN cable with two ends, in order to connect it to my other computer next to this one....The Ethernet Card I just got will be used by my modem to connect it to the Internet, and supply internet to the other. I'm currently using Windows 7 x64 bit as specified before and I've got the correct drivers for them. In breif, heres the scenario: OS: Windows 7 x64 bit Preinstalled Ethernet Port: Working, using a lan cable to connect to another computer. New Ethernet Port in the Card: Not working for some unknown reason, there seem to be no conflicts in device manager, having latest drivers. Edit 3: The device in Network Connections say "Network Cable Unplugged". What I'm trying to say that its not detecting the presence of a cable in THAT PORT.

Hi friends, I have a dual O.S. Windows & Red-cap 5.5. I am unable to connect internet connection in red-cap because my ADSL ( Huawei Smart Ax MT880) router link is blinking. But when i use Windows the adsl link is still up and easily connect. In Red-cap the status of Ethernet card is OK. When i start the network service its adsl link started blink again. I live in a border town in Ireland called Middletown and i cant receive fixed line ADSL broadband. I have tried every the UK carriers and none can offer me 3G mobile broadband except for 3 Ireland. hey, ive got a problem here. i recently moved to egypt. now i am a big internet user and really rely on it. i went and bought an internet USB stick from etisalat. They told me the speed would be 7.2 Mb/s. What a lie. the speed is barely 0.4 Mb/s, and whats worse, it disconnects from the internet every 5 minutes randomly. I did a little reading and found out that it wasn't a very good service, but now I don't know what to pick from. Also, I read that the reason I had slow speed was because I am using ADSL. If that is the case, I will receive cable internet. Would that fix the problem? Is cable internet faster than ADSL? Also, just to include, I do not care for customer service too much. If the customer service of a company is terrible, I dont care, as long as the internet's speed is good and it does not disconnect on me ever. Can someone please help me make the right choice with my internet? Which provider should I use? Should I use cable or ADSL? Which provider does not disconnect on you randomly?

I'm not a newbie when it comes to networking, or computers, but i'm unfortunately stumped on this, and have been every day trying to figure out whats going on and why i can't access some websites that I was able earlier, and I can't play ANY of my games now. Diablo online, Battlefield2, Call of Duty, WOW etc. Heres the problem I wanted to host my possess website, couldn't do it originally because my ISP has a router/modem *Comtrend ADSL 2+ Router CT-5621T* which was preventing others outside to look my webpages. I am hosting this on my computer, so I asked them to let me be on the outside they called it *Flashing the modem* so a guy came, did what he did, wrote down every my info i.e, IP address, sub mask, default gateway, preferred DNS an alternate. I put these in my D-Link DFE-538TX PCI quick Ethernet Adapter, and i was able to connect to the net. BUT now, i can't receive to some websites it just sits there trying to receive to them, and they are easy sites, www.facebook.com, www.molten-wow.com etc. AND any games i have tried *listed over* i can't connect to the servers at every. I've rechecked my numbers, and they are what i was given and put in correctly. I added these ##'s to the *Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)* So now i'm stuck, and i don't know what to do. The modem i can't access and even if i could, its username/PW protected by my ISP. Anyone have any idea what else i'm forgetting to allow so i can play games again and view every websites ? Hi I have been facing a problem with Airtel Broadband Connection. I am using Beetel 110TC1 ADSL Router supplied by Airtel. Right from the beginning, I observed frequent disconnections. My system is showing a message "Network cable is unplugged" in the system tray. Within 2 to 3 seconds, it will receive connected again and the system will show "Local Area Connection is now Connected" in the system tray I contacted Airtel Network Engineer who installed the router. He suggested a loose connection at the router or CPU. I re-plugged the cable that connects router and system, but still the problem persists. Can you suggest a solution for this problem ? I have a desktop with the dial up connection, and a dsl-g604t wireless adsl router. I dont have adsl and want to share the dial up connection to my laptop. I have tried setting the desktop to share dial up over the lan (which the router is connected to) but my laptop wont connect to it over the wireless from the router. My laptop runs windows 7 and desktop runs vista. Router dhcp server is off and everything has its possess static ip address. File and printer sharing works fine, and i can play age of empires over the wireless, but ics wont work.

Hi there, I've recently joined talktalk, and paid the 69.99 charge to receive my line activated. I let the technician receive on with it, and I was 'live' the same day. Now broadband works great out of the socket he played with, but if I take my router config to any other bt socket, it does not connect adsl or internet. I don't actually have a home phone yet, although I am paying for the service. Any info, or am I gonna have to pay another 70 quid for a technician?

I tested it and it had the following speeds: Download: 7mb Upload: .75mb Ping: 88m/s I am wondering if it could possibly be my modem restricting my upload and ping. A few months ago i went to my friends home and he got a xbox 360.He got a phone jack and his room so he got this cable that he put in the jack and to the back of his xbox.And we got on xbox live.It couldnt be dial up cause xbox live dosent have dail up jack on the back of it.And it looked like a cat 5 cable cause it was thick yellow cable.I just want to know what was it cause i got a phone jack in my room and i dont want to buy a new adsl modem cause i dont have the money.Cause my internet provider dosent give new modems they give used ones that drop connection every the time.I know it is the modem cause i called them to my home like 10 times.but that is not what i am asking.i just want to know what was he using and can i receive one.I know he dosent know cause cause he is 12 years old and i am 13 years old.So asking him is out of the question.Also it cant be dial up cause we kept really good connection.And the phone be ringing and we didnt loose connection. i have a thompson tg782t which is a bigpond provided router, my personal opinion it is really crap, if i buy a new router (TP-Link TL-WR1043ND) will that router make a difference in terms of connection and speed. i am on the best bigpond provided ADSL 1 plan that is on offer, i would receive ADSL+2 but they dont provide it in my area.
I moved home a while ago and when I changed my ISP we got a free router. Before I moved I was using a Netgear router which gave me no problems at every. I've been using the free router for about 6 months now and to be quite honest, it's useless. The wireless range is horrible and it disconnects every few minutes even when on an ethernet connection. I'd like to go back to using my Netgear router but when I connect it up I can't connect to the internet. I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong when switching over the routers but I don't know what. My knowledge of computers is horrendous so please be simple :) Just in case it helps what I'm doing when changing routers is unplugging the power, ADSL and every LAN connections from the new router and plug them every into their respective places in the Netgear one. When I do this the LED labelled "test" flashes orange for a few seconds. After this stops the LAN slot 4 (which is connected to my PC) flashes green, the LED that indicates wifi stays solid green and the LED for internet connection flashes orange. This happens for about 20 seconds. The internet connection LED then changes to solid green. The other 2 remain as they were. According to the bottom of the router I am using a "NETGEAR 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL Modem Router DG834G v3" and I'm using "Windows XP Home Edition 2002 version" No it's not, it worked fine until I moved home. I want to know how to connect it successfully so it actually transmits internet properly.

I have a cat5 patch panel which works fine for network cables. One side of it is designated for telephones. How can I wire up every of my phone sockets to the patch panel and receive every of the phones working from 1 BT line? There is a BT telephone socket with ADSL active by the patch panel, but how can I connect that to 3 or 4 phones using the patch panel? If I were computer networking, then I would use a switch, but I am not sure how to go about using multiple phones on one telephone connection. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am beginning to understand better now and am looking at 3cx.com for a PBX. Would it be possible to use the same phone number if I used that? I like that it runs on Windows and looks easyish to install hak5.org/episodes/episode-503. What do you think of that one. Which sip provider would be good for the U.K? I called Verizon Tech support about getting a new computer. I'm concerned about establishing aDSL connection. They told me every i had to do was hookup the computer. The connection is already established. Just gotta go online. That doesn't sound right to me. Can someone help me? I've got an ADSL connection that used to work fine. recently, the ADSL signal is getting lost very often and some friends told me I need to use a splitter. Apparently splitters reduce interference between phone line and adsl which each works at a different frequency (more or less). so my question is: do I need to put a splitter before each machine (telephone, fax.....) being connected to that phone line or do I just put one between the router and the wall socket? thanks
