let me clear it as i mention one pc is on the network 192.168.0x and the second pc is on the network 192.168.1.x both are using c class ip 192.168.1.1 is my ADSL modem's ip and 192.168.0.1 is my wi-fi Router's ip now internet is working fine on both pc ADSL modem DHCP assigning ip to my router and router is assigning ip to my laptop.modem DHCP assigning ip 192.168.1.x on the contrary router is assigning ip through DHCP 192.168.0.x becsue both ADSL modem and wi-fi routerr are using DHCP their on now internet is working but i want to share the resource of my both computres my comuters are not pinging eachothers because they are using same class ip buty the network is diffrent as i mentioned earlier.192.168.1.x,192.168.0.x dektop computer is connected via ethernet cable which is using the ip 192.168.1.x where as laptop is using ip 192.168.0.x.now the problem is i am not able to communicate in my local network due to diffrent network IDs i done my self a little thing on my computer i added a route from laptop which is using ip 192.168.0.x for my desktop which ip is for 192.168.1.x. now laptop is able to ping desktop also laptop is able to use remote desktop access but dektop computer is still not able to ping or remote access to the laptop every flame walls are also off please help me.thanks

I've been using D-Link ADSL for about 4-5 months now. My connection is AT&T but I might switch because of the constant drop out. It might just be my wire setup but every 3-4 weeks it drop. I just got a 2Wire 2701 HG-B and does the same thing. I just got my connection back, however, which do you guys think is better? The only thing I like about 2Wire is the looks and the menu online for D-Link is much more easier. Thanks for the answer. I just got 2Wire 6 hours ago for $100 and I got D-Link for $65. But I don't really think it has something to do with my router/modem for internet being dropped out but maybe just the wiring and I barely have signal inside the home but it's good outside IDK why. Well actually it's my dad's. And it doesn't have any extra places to put a wireless router into it, which is what I tried to use. We are with tiscali and have a really slow dial up connection, and my dad won't bother trying to replace it with a more modern modem, unless I can show him how simple it is! The problem is I have no idea how to go about it... Can it be changed to a wireless internet connection easily, without the need of a router? Any suggestions? I'm with AAPT, 6Gb a month and it says that my speed shaping is 512kbps. I've got this Wireless Router that says 802.11g/2.4Ghz and a ADSL modem that says DSL - 302G, personally i have no idea what that means. On a normal download (not torrent) its maxed at 52.4kbps. How can i make my speeds (download & upload) go faster than that.
I have TV, internet, phone service, every without going through the residential cable company. There's been nothing running through the cable outlets since they were disconnected years ago when I switched to ADSL (no channels, no internet). I have 4 outlets not in use. Can I plug the line from the satellite dish into a cable outlet closest to it, and then connect my satellite receiver's cable line to the outlet nearest it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

dear friends my son has got a dell inspiron 910 mini laptop where the OS is Ubuntu Ram is 512 mb HDD is 4 Gb . now we have taken broadband connection in our home where the the ISP (internet service provider ) use only static ip address. they have provided me the ip address the gateway address dns address etc etc but was unable to connect to the internet not a single web page is opening the ISP technical department says that if your os is in windows we can make it connected as we are used to do so. but the os in your computer is ubuntu which is very new to them or it seems that they havent used/ habituated with that os. my son and i have tried several options which has been provided by google how to connect ubuntu os through static ip address but still there is not a satisfactory solution . is any body there who have Ubuntu OS and the medium of connection is adsl broadband static ip only . also i would like to mention that the car configure option is not working we have also tried it . thanks in advance
I am using ADSL and for the last couple of days my internet has stopped working. It is not my modem or internet provider as we have been over every of the settings time and time again and everything seems to be working fine but I'm still unable to connect to the internet. Technical support have arrive to the conclusion that it must be the testra exchange, I have no idea what this is or why it would suddenly prevent me from connecting to the internet, this has never happened before, can anyone please explain what this problem is to me, thanks.
I can look the difference when downloading an torrent file connected through a router(low speed) and direct to Adsl modem(high speed). upgraded the firmware also same problem. I have Telstra Bigond, ADSL on a 256kbps plan. But the other day, we randomly got a speed upgrade. Testing it on www.ozspeedtest.com, I got a line speed of 1.30MB/s. I definitely did not upgrade it, though I was thinking about it. I checked my Internet account on the Bigpond website, and the information is unchanged, it still says I'm on the account I was on before. Not that I'm complaining... But does anyone have any idea of how this could have happened? Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Basically ive got a Zoom ADSL X6 Router. Randomly it will reset the settings to what appears to be close factory settings(wireless security comes off, internet connection cuts out). I have a Backup file which i have to use to restore it then after a few mins it will arrive back on. It varies on how often it happens, sometimes i can be ok for 4 hours then it happens, sometimes i can happen 3-4 in 30mins or so. Ive updated the firmware to the most recent according to the zoom website, but still happens Any ideas?

Recently had the computer motherboard and internal power replaced due to a storm (which also roasted my old modem). I have a NetComm NB6 ADSL 2+ modem router which I connect via an ethernet cable. On start up, the internet will not connect automatically like it used to, I have to manually tell it to connect - it works fine then. IP address is DNS address are both set to automatic - everything is the same as it was before when it was working. The new motherboard has seemed to cause the problem where it doesnt connect to the net on start up. Any ideas how to fix this? I am not very knowledgable with computers, so will need basic step by step guides. Thanks a lot!

I have a tp-link TD-W8910G ADSL router and when I was updating the firmware, I accidentally disconnected the power. Now I cannot access my router. Is there anyway to recover the router to the factory firmware state? FYI. the reset button at the back of the box is not helping. This is very important : the router shutdown during a firmware upgrade. So it means that the firmware is corrupted now. Now is there anyway to recover the router?
I live in Victoria and I just got Steam. I have a Bigpond Broadband ADSL plan (it's slow but it works) and I have a tiny data plan (only 12GB a month). I want to download The Orange Box, but I can't because my maximum allowed monthly download limit is 3GB a month. Confused by every the different types and features of routers I have looked at. I would like to find the right wireless router, I don't have one currently but desperately need one. My internet speed is 1160.1 kbps on Att DSL which is supposed to be 1.5 mbps? I think I would benefit from a Dual N wireless router to run videos and stream music online and connect both my desktop and laptop? But am unsure I can take advantage of its capabilities with slow internet speed. Right now I just receive buffer issues with my att provided speedstream 5100 ADSL modem. Which router is best for me?

I have an ADSL internet connection which uses a D-LINK wireless router connected to my main computer. The problem I have is that intermittently, every few seconds I'm getting an mistake on my computer which flashes up saying that a network cable is unplugged. I can still browse the net but its affecting my online gaming, causing lag. The interesting thing is that no cables are disconnected, I have replaced them every...AND my wirless internet works absolutely fine it's very quick and there's no problems. I pinged my DNS and it came back fine...I then tried to ping www.google.com and it came back with a hardware failure. Can anybody please tell me what's causing this? I'm finding it difficult to believe it's a hardware failure, given that my wireless internet is absolutely fine.....any suggestions would be appreciated. I just tried to ping google again and this time there was no hardware failure...but the cable mistake keeps flashing up. It's doing my head in, please help ahhh

Even sitting beside my desktop with it connected to the internet I receive a "waiting for users to connect" message even with a 100% reception The NETGEAR on the "Connection to a network" screen says "The settings saved on this computer for the networks do not match the requirements of the network" My Netgear is a Wireless ADSL Modem Router DG834G v3 I have been in contact with Netgear and my broadband supplier and with the Acer technical team. The Netgear technician says its the fault of the computer. The Acer people say its the fault of Netgear. every I know is that I cannot receive WiFi connections, which is particularly awkward as I spend a lot of time away from home. Can you advise me? The problem is that I have 2 phone lines running to my home (Phone, and one for Fax) The ADSL is on my phone line, and for some reason it can't receive ADSL2+ but the Fax can (Checked this on there website). I bought my kid a new slim PS2 and we've connected the ethernet port (built in) to our ADSL router - that every works OK and we can look the online servers. But when he tries to receive connected to the Australia Central Server (or something like that), it asks for a username and password! Where the heck do we receive that? Some forum posts refer to using two 7-digit codes on the network adapter packaging ... but our network adapter is built in! It didn't have any packaging!! Plus he went and threw away the box that the PS2 came in so I can't even check if it's somewhere else like on the box. Please help! Is there some other way to receive these mysterious numbers? Why aren't they printed on the PS2 case, for pete's sakes? And what do I do with them anyway? How does that receive us the "username and password" we need? Any help would be appreciated ...
I have U.S.Robotics Wireless ADSL Getaway. It was connected to my old Desktop. I also use this wireless network to connect to internet with my new laptop. I want to move my old desktop away so I bought a Belkin Wireless Usb Adapter. So that it could detect my internet connection from the next room. When I removed the cable and plugged in the belkin usb adapter it detected my internet connection for few seconds.It keeps connecting and losing connection. It is still right next to my router but it cant establish a stable connection. What am I doing wrong?

I have ADSL and have noticed my usage stats don't stack up against how much i actually use, i would be lucky to download/upload 20gb a month but i'm consistently getting stats from my provider saying i'm using in excess of 45gb, i don't have Wireless, just a NetComm 8 port ADSL modem.
